We have have a lot of fun at MuleCross, and we do a lot of good too! Don't forget that if you pre-register you'll not only save yourself a little money, but $8 for each pre-registrant will go to Gallatin Valley Food Bank!

For those who want to wait until race day... you can still save some cash by getting $1 off for each food item (up to a max of $8) you bring to donate to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank. If you are wondering what type of food to bring, you can check the Wish list. Currently the food bank is in need of:

Chicken and Rice Soup
Pasta
Fruit Cocktail
Tomato Sauce
Tuna
& Chunky Soup.

So check your kitchen or make a store run before Saturday - and feel good while you are having fun on Race Day!

Raffles Gone Wild!

The raffle at MuleCross is gunna be HUGE! We have so much great stuff from local sponsors that we can't even venture a guess as to total value. Perhaps $4,000 in prizes?

First and foremost, we are raffling a a custom-made cyclocross frame built by Paul Taylor of Bozeman's Taylor Bicycles. The frame alone is valued at $1750! Tickets are now available in Bozeman at Round House Sports Center, Bangtail Bikes, and Wild Joe's Coffee. Need NOT be present at MuleCross to win the frame.

Many other great prizes will be raffled. A big thanks to Round House, Bangtail Bikes, Summit Bike & Ski, Moving Forward Massage, and Rudy Project for donating to MuleCross!

We don't sell that many tickets. Great odds of winning sweet prizes!

Thanks to everybody who attended MuleCross 2010! By all accounts, tt was a smashing success with 91 total racers and 302 pounds of food donated to the Gallatin County Food Bank.

Monster Dash 5k - or MuleCross Prologue?

As it turns out, there is another fine event happening in Bozeman on the same day as MuleCross! If you are a runner, this event may be for you. Or... just consider it the MuleCross prologue and do both!

The event is the 1st Annual Monster Dash hosted by Bozeman Running Company. This 5k race will feature a free kid's run and a costume contest. The Monster Dash will start at the Lindley Park Pavilion at 9am -- meaning you have PLENTY of time to c'monn over to MuleCross for the afternoon festivities.

MuleCross 2009 - Vanderwood Puts on a Show!

Vanderwood puts on a show, The Werewolf wins again, and a .2HP gas engine propels GAS rider to a strong finish.

Thanks to all who attended MuleCross 2009. By all accounts, it was a great success. The weather cooperated, the course was a hit, and we had an impressive 70 registered riders. Team Muleterro handed out $625 in cash prizes, 26 MuleCross trophies, and bucket-loads of bike schwag from our sponsors.

In the Men's CAT 1/2/3 race, GAS/Intrinsik rider Brad Morgan took the hole-shot and won the $20 cash prime. But, the story of the day was all Karl Vanderwood who was able to ride the snot-slick run-up with serious authority. Vanderwood jumped to an early lead and never looked back. With each lap, Vanderwood put more and more time into 2nd place rider and fellow Montana Velo teammate Scott Herzig. Scott also had a great race and was able to hold-off a hard-charging Morgan. Despite getting some pressure from Trek Store Boulder rider Josh Bezecny, Morgan finished strong and landed 3rd step of the podium.

The Women's CAT 1/2/3 was won by GAS/Intrinsik rider Lisa Curry who somehow managed to endure the entire race in a rubber werewolf mask. The Wolf jumped-out to a quick lead and never received any serious pressure from MontanaCyclocross.com rider Lindsay Campbell. Has there EVER been any doubt that Lisa Curry is an animal??

The Men's Master A category was won easily by top Montana endurance rider Bill Martin of Team Muleterro. Martin, riding a full suspension mountain bike, was able to mix-it-up with some of the fastest 'cross racers in the state and actually finished 6th among the Cat 1/2/3 pack.

The Men's Cat 4 race was a great show! The crowded field contained 25 riders with another 5 racing Master's B. Cameron Johnson won the Cat 4 race by a sizable margin. The Master's B race was completely dominated by GAS/Intrisik rider Jim Nallick. Congrats to Jim for a very successful first season of 'cross!

The costumes were a blast! Attending the race were zombies, a unicorn, a bear lover, a rasta-man, a baby mule, the Marlboro Man, a Cory Hardy look-alike, a skeleton, some buffalo wings, an evil villain/trob-goblin thingy, and generally wacky outfits of all sorts. The $50 prizes for best costume went to Alex Lussier and Mimi Matsuda. Lussier raced with a self-designed .2hp "engine" that featured moving pistons to "power" his legs. Matsuda raced with the first-timers while impressively dressed as a grass-covered chia-pet.

The coveted Mule Medal was awarded to most-aggressive riders Curry and Vanderwood. Not because they won their respective races, but because of the WAY they won their respective races. Vanderwood gained an advantage with his explosive rides on the steep run-up. And, how can you NOT name The Werewolf as most aggressive female rider? (I'm STILL having nightmares that I'm in a race and being chased by The Wolf.)

A quick thanks to our sponsors, Mike Harris of Gallatin County, the hundred-odd spectators who turned-out to watch, the Montana 'cross community, and race officials Don Russell, Vicky Russell, and Alisa Elliot. Also, thanks must go to the Muleterro Race Committee and Muleteers -- Ben, Sten, Sprout, Cory, Jo, and Felicia. You all came together to help throw an awesome event!

Coming to Bozeman this Halloween – MuleCross! MuleCross is a community CycloCross event held in Gallatin County’s Regional Park at the intersection of W. Oak and Yellowstone. CycloCross, which is the fastest-growing bike activity in America, consists of many laps around a short course with dirt paths, steep hills, mud, and obstacles. And, CycloCross races are a blast for spectators! Race in a costume to be eligible for $50 prizes! Or, bring your kids and win prizes with “Fishing for Sprockets”. Whether you are a complete beginner or soon-to-go-pro, there is a race category for you. Kids under 12 will ride a shortened course. There is even a first-timers race category. Don’t have a ‘cross bike? No problem. Ride any bike with knobby tires. Don’t want to race? No problem. Bring your drums, cowbells, noisemakers, freaky costumes and join the fun! Let's go out on a limb and say we are hoping to see some of the big names of the Montana CycloCross scene: Curry x2, Frykman x2, Lussier, Fiore, Morgan, Vanderwood, Gonzalez, Herzig, Radley, Martin, Presta, Cochran, Genco, Finley, Schoenfelder, Gallego, Doll, Blasi?, Proctor? ... etc etc. And, let's not forget our hometown mountain bike heroes from the MSU Cycling Team: Stephen Ettinger (2009 Division II Collegiate National Champion in Cross Country and Short track), Lydia Tanner (Collegiate National Champion Cross Country, 2nd Short track), and Zach Guy (8th Cross Country, 11th Short Track).

Bozeman's newest cyclocross race will be held at Gallatin County's Regional Park. From I-90, Take the 19th St exit, number 305. Tavel south on 19th St for 1.4 miles. Turn right (west) at W. Oak St. Travel 1.3 miles to intersection of W. Oak St and Yellowstone Ave.
